Our Afternoon Teas
Traditional Afternoon Tea
You simply can’t visit Guernsey without enjoying a traditional afternoon tea, and sampling some of the finest Guernsey cream with your scones.
Delicate finger sandwiches, freshly made scones and a glorious array of cakes and delicacies are served with a selection of speciality teas.
Exclusive Afternoon Tea
Afternoon Tea consumption increased dramatically during the early nineteenth century and it is around this time that Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford is said to have complained of "having that sinking feeling" during the late afternoon. At the time it was usual for people to take only two main meals a day, breakfast, and dinner at around 8 o'clock in the evening.
The solution for the Duchess was a pot a tea and a light snack, taken privately in her boudoir during the afternoon. This tradition has grown in popularity over the years taking many forms and influences from across England and recently some European inspiration. We are introducing Guernsey’s finest afternoon tea experience in The Governors Restaurant. With our special ‘G&T’ - Gin cocktail on arrival, a glass of Lanson Champagne per person and delectable morsels such as 18ct Gold Tiramisu complemented by an intimate service and setting; we would like to invite you to join us from May 1st to relax in opulence and lose your afternoons with us.
