Wednesday, 27th May

A visit to St James to view the Guernsey Tapestry followed by a coach tour of the island with Gill and Annie.  A picnic lunch is included.

Meet Gill Girard, your guide for the day, who was born in Guernsey and has many stories to tell.  Our driver will take us down to the harbour to enjoy the spectacular views.  See how the medieval town developed around the busy port and hear its fascinating history.  Follow in the footsteps of character Juliet when she first ‘arrived’ and Dawsey showed her around the island.  Drive out of St Peter Port to explore the southeast corner of the island where the characters of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society book lived, see the cliffs and flower-filled lanes of St Martins, and the Little Chapel nestled in the valley made of ‘shells, broken china and smashed pottery’ by a dedicated French monk. We will then make our way from the southern parishes out to the West Coast to see the many German defence towers and bunkers.

Gala Dinner in the stunning setting of The Regency Room at The Old Government House Hotel & Spa.  Enjoy a four-course dinner including paired wines, followed by an after-dinner talk by Annie Barrows.
