ACCESSIBILITY

In September 2002, The OGH was chosen from over 7,000 AA listed hotels as the AA Accessible Hotel of the Year for 2002-3. This prestigious award is given to establishments that actively promote accessibility and, where possible, provide specialist equipment to assist independent wheelchair travel. The OGH has three specially equipped bathrooms plus unaided direct lift access from the front entrance. There is unaided lift access from the valet parking area at the front of the hotel to the reception lobby, Accessibility desk (check-in), male cloakroom and Governor's Restaurant. The lift has a weight capacity of 230kg and a door width of 94cm and measures 125cm x 108cm.

PUBLIC AREAS

There is unaided lift access from the Reception lobby to the Sir John Coward Lounge, with a fixed ramp to the main lift, Brasserie and female cloakroom (upper level). The lift has a weight capacity of 230kg and a door width of 94cm and measures 140cm x 108cm. The fixed ramp has a 1:16ft gradient. A ramp is available upon request from the Brasserie (upper level) to the garden and terrace. The male and female cloakrooms offer specially equipped cubicles
Main lift and bedroom corridors

There is unaided access from the main lift to the two Queen Rooms. The main lift has a weight capacity of 450kg and a door width of 80cm and measures 107cm x 108cm. The bedroom corridors are 110cm wide and the bedroom doors are 78cm.

Accessibility bedrooms

QUEEN ROOMS

One double Queen Room is equipped with a low bath, mechanised bath chair and lavatory with support rail. The other has a ramped 'wheel-in' shower fitted with a small seat.

The surface of the beds is 68cm above the floor. The telephone is 40cm from the bed. Light switches and door handles are 120cm above the floor and the dressing table base is 70cm above it.
