Annette Henry Tours
As a Gold Accredited Guide, Annette Henry has been specialising in walking tours and themed guided walks in Guernsey for 7yrs.
Born and bred in her native Guernsey, Annette follows her ancestral roots, in retelling stories of legends, folklore, witchcraft and murders. Dressed in costume, Annette’s natural storytelling ability and theatrical approach bring dramatic historical events to life. Her highly acclaimed tours are hugely popular with both visitors and locals throughout the whole year.
Her interest in social history is apparent as she recalls life in Guernsey during the time of the Bubonic Plague, Cholera epidemic, Civil War and German Occupation. A visit to a privately owned German Battery, is often regarded by her guests, as the highlight of one of her tours.
In addition, Annette offers “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” tours which are designed to bring the book to life, visiting places described in the book.
Whether you are looking for a boat trip, coach ride, walking tour or mini cruise, Annette’s easy going approach to history makes her tours suitable for both adults and children, but it is advisable to book early to secure places.
St James Concert and Assembly Hall
Since re-opening as Guernsey’s Concert and Assembly Hall, the former church of St James the Less has played host to a wide variety of events. With its superb acoustics, the Hall is used by local and visiting musical organisations for chamber, orchestral, jazz and choral concerts. It also boasts a fine Steinway grand piano and a 3 manual digital organ as well as two upright pianos. Visit the website for an up to date look at future events which are bookable through the Concierge team at The Old Government House Hotel and Spa.
Guernsey Cheshire Home
The Guernsey Cheshire Home is The Old Government House Hotel and Spa’s preferred local charity for 2010. It is a charity providing individual care and support for adults living with severe physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, stroke and spinal injury. Each person has their own specially-adapted and equipped room.
Even though they may have very high dependency needs, the care they receive ensures that they enjoy as much independence as possible, making their own choices and maintaining control of their own lives.
The Guernsey Cheshire Home also provides support through day visits and respite services. This improves the lives of many individuals and families in the Island.
